Never in our wildest dreams did we think one small statement could become a movement.

But thanks to the thousands of people who took the #PutTheNailinIt vow to end domestic violence, a left ring fingernail painted purple has become the symbol for speaking out against domestic violence.

There are so many individuals to thank, but at this time we wish to thank all of our celebrity friends who donated their time and platforms during Domestic Violence Awareness Month to help amplify our message: domestic violence has no place in our society and Safe Horizon is here to help.

We’ve raised nearly $120, 000 (and counting) since we launched #PutTheNailinIt and we couldn’t have done it without you. These critical funds go a long way to supporting lifesaving services and programs like our 24/7 domestic violence hotline, shelters, legal support, counseling, and so much more. Most importantly, it allows the women and children who enter our doors a chance to take control of their lives.

It didn’t end there. The #PutTheNailinIt hashtag went viral with over 100 million impressions ensuring that our collective message of support was heard across this country.

We send a very heartfelt thanks to Tamron Hall and Dave Navarro. Your stories have showcased that domestic violence affects everyone, including families who’ve lost a loved one to this epidemic. You both shared your pain, heartbreak, and hope with the world. And you have turned that pain into powerful advocacy. In our eyes, you are now part of the Safe Horizon family and we couldn’t be more honored.

A very special thanks to the many survivors who shared their stories in hopes of helping others. You are not only survivors, but have become fierce advocates for others who may be suffering in silence.

A big thank you to Jana Kramer who bravely told her story of surviving domestic violence for the first time this October. We are grateful to you for building support for #PutTheNailinIt with some of your famous friends such as Kaitlyn Bristowe, Dancing with the Stars’ Gleb Savchenko and Val Chmerkovskiy, and the incomparable Carrie Underwood. We are rooting for you on Dancing with the Stars!

To Jade and Ruthie Bolton, you both have highlighted that a woman can be physically strong, a world class athlete, and yet still be dealing with the painful reality of domestic violence at home. Your physical strength is parallel to your emotional resilience to come forward and say, “I survived.” Thank you.

Many thanks to survivors Beverly Gooden and Kira Kazantsev and everyone who appeared in our PSA, including Michael Bolton, Alan Cumming and Kyra Sedgwick. Not only was this PSA seen online, but broadcast widely on channels like Investigation Discovery, Spike, MTV, TLC, and more. You helped bring the #PutTheNailinIt message into people’s homes and hearts.

Thank you all for making Safe Horizon’s #PutTheNailinIt campaign a massive success this year. Most importantly, thank you for your tireless efforts to ensure that victims of domestic violence have a chance at achieving safety and rebuilding.

Even though Domestic Violence Awareness Month is over, the movement continues and you can still participate year-round by supporting Safe Horizon and taking the vow.
