Every year, survivors of crime and abuse, their friends and family, city officials, advocates and victim service agencies such as Safe Horizon come together to show support for survivors at a candlelight vigil. Held during National Crime Victims’ Rights, the vigil features an array of speakers and performances with a goal of helping survivors feel understood and supported.

More About National Crime Victims’ Rights Week
Since 1981, National Crime Victims’ Rights Week has challenged the nation to confront and remove barriers to full justice for all victims of crime. Each year, communities across the country revisit the history of the victims’ rights movement, celebrate the progress made, and recommit to further advancements in the crime victims field.
This year’s theme—Expand the Circle: Reach All Victims—emphasizes the importance of inclusion in victim services. The theme addresses how the crime victims field can better ensure that every crime victim has access to services and support and how professionals, organizations, and communities can work in tandem to reach all victims.
