Advocating for Survivors of Violence

Safe Horizon helps survivors of crime and abuse move from crisis to confidence by providing direct services to help them heal and rebuild their lives. In addition to assisting those who have experienced violence and abuse, we advocate for sound policies, sufficient resources and increased awareness of the issues facing our clients.

The Violence Against Women Act 2018 Reauthorization

The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) is a federal program first passed in 1994 that helps communities to address domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. Today, VAWA funding helps support Safe Horizon’s life-changing work impacting thousands of survivors of each year.

VAWA is now up for reauthorization. Learn how you can help advocate for this important legislation to be reauthorized.
