Safe Horizon has named Erin White as Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications. White formerly served as deputy communications director for Mayor Bill de Blasio and led communications for First Lady Chirlane McCray. She has deep background in national advocacy, nonprofit communications, and government relations, as well as experience in reporting and media relations.
White will be responsible for expanding awareness about the organization nationally, driving its advocacy agenda and advancing understanding how to prevent violence and empower victims of violence to move from crisis to confidence.

While with the de Blasio administration, White led communications around signature administration initiatives, such as ThriveNYC, the city’s world-leading mental health effort; Women.NYC, an effort to make New York City the best place in the world for women to succeed; 3-K for All, the city’s free early childhood education program for 3-year-olds and more.
Prior to serving in the de Blasio administration, White served as a senior communications strategist for the American Civil Liberties Union and a communications consultant for a variety of national nonprofits, leading national advocacy campaigns, communications strategy for Supreme Court cases, providing crisis management support and more. Her work has won national industry awards for multicultural campaigns and campaigns on a shoestring budget.
