At Safe Horizon, we are proud to work with dedicated corporate partners who support our mission of helping victims of violence move from crisis to confidence. These incredible companies give back to the community by providing financial support as well as organizing fun and meaningful activities for our clients.
Our holiday corporate partners span various industries and include Ernst & Young, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, PVH Corp and Morgan Stanley.
Morgan Stanley is passionate about supporting many of Safe Horizon’s critical programs for victims of abuse throughout the year. We are grateful for their generous support of our Child Advocacy Centers for child victims of abuse as well as Champion Awards, our annual gala celebrating dedicated supporters of victims of violence.
Morgan Stanley employees continuously seek out new ways of helping Safe Horizon’s clients. Recently, staff from their human resources department collaborated with volunteer-based organization New York Cares to bring some holiday cheer to the largest of Safe Horizon’s eight domestic violence shelters, Rose House.
The volunteers decked the halls of Rose House with lively holiday trimmings including Christmas trees, plush stockings and snowflake-themed décor.
They planned engaging activities for the children including making miniature gingerbread houses and holiday crafts. The volunteers also set up a do-it-yourself spa section for the parents to create their own indulgences. These included peppermint sugar scrubs, soothing lavender lotions and hot cocoa kits.
After the activities, everyone was treated to a delicious holiday meal including crispy fried chicken, spiced curry salmon, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, cornbread and fresh Greek salad.
Residents and staff from Rose House and Morgan Stanley employees enjoyed spending time together and spreading the positive spirit of the season. Nicolette Clayton, a Children’s Services Specialist at Rose House describes the positive impact that events and activities like these have on the residents, “the children love the extra attention and appreciate the chance to make arts and crafts. The parents and staff are happy to watch them just have fun.”
The Morgan Stanley staff also expressed their appreciation for the chance to create a positive experience for the shelter residents, “the opportunity to interact with the kids, talk to the moms and get to know the great staff made us feel very connected, ” Diana Mousally, from Morgan Stanley HR shared. “It truly gave a different perspective to all the unbelievable work Safe Horizon does.”
